That’s because it runs the risk of attracting the attention of the police, which is what happened to one unlucky couple. After a quick warrant check, the man was put in handcuffs as he had an outstanding warrant.
To his credit, he managed to pull his engagement ring out of his pocket and persuade the police officer to allow him to propose, before hauling him off to jail. After finding her way home, his new fiancee made her to the local jail to bail out her soon-to-be-husband.

It’s a common strategy for the person planning to propose to hire a photographer to take precious photos of the big moment. A photographer in Arkansas was tasked with hiking up a hillside in Arkansas at sunrise to capture one such proposal.
And that is exactly what he did, with one slight catch. The photographer had stumbled on a different wedding proposal and, without realizing that he had the wrong couple, began to take photographs. “Basically I spent six and half hours, $40 in gas and food, 450 photos, and took the wrong couple’s photos,” the hapless photographer said after.
